Jessica Simpson Biography
Jessica Simpson is one of
the best singer/actors in the world today. She has made a number of
songs that have climbed very high in the Billboard Top 100 Charts and
has starred in blockbuster movies.
Simpson was born in Dallas, Texas on July 10, 1980. Her first attempt at
making it as a young singer was at the age of 12 when she tried out for
the Mickey Mouse Club and made it to the finals but could not win (She
lost to Brittney Spears and Christina Aguilera). Simpson didn’t quit
though and returned home to sing church and gospel music. She was
originally signed by Proclaim Records after an executive their heard her
voice, but as she continued to sing, she attracted thousands of fans of
both church and pop music and grabbed the attention of many big time
music executives including Tommy Mattola, who worked with Colombia
Records. She signed with Colombia and by 1999, her first album, “Sweet
Kisses” which featured hits including “I Wanna Love You Forever”
and “I Think I Am In Love With You”, made her one of the most
popular young singers in the United States.
She then went on tour with 98 degrees where she would meet her future
husband of three years, Nick Lachey before her second album,
"Irresistible", was released in 2001. The title track became
another huge success.
Simpson was now known virtually everywhere and starred in a reality show
with her husband Nick Lachey on MTV. Lachey and Simpson were married in
October 2002 and signed a deal to star in “The Newlyweds” on MTV in
2003. That same year she released her third album “In the Skin”.
Jessica even appeared on a number of Late Night television shows and
could be seen in dozens of advertisements for many very well known
companies. Her sister, Ashlee Simpson, also launched a music career at
this time and enjoyed success. Jessica made her debut on the Silver
Screen in the 2005 blockbuster movie “The Dukes of Hazards” and was
ranked as one of the hottest women alive in Maxim Magazine. Things were
looking good; however, in November 2005, her relationship had some rocky
times and she and Nick Lachey publicly announced their divorce plans.
Regardless, it now seems as if the former couple has moved on and both
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey continue to record new songs and have a
bright future ahead of them.
